Rejection hurts. So, this entrepreneur decided to face it head-on — by intentionally seeking it out for 100 days. In his TED Talk, Jia Jiang shares what he learned from his journey to stomp out his fear of rejection by simply asking for things he wanted, regardless of whether or not he thought he’d get them. In the experiment, he made a series of requests — like borrowing $100 from a stranger to suggesting a “burger refill” at a restaurant — and learned important lessons about asking for what you want and turning the shame and pain of rejection into gifts and opportunities. “When you get rejected in life, when you are facing the next obstacle or next failure, consider the possibilities,” he says. “Don’t run. If you just embrace them, they might become your gifts as well.”
